I’m Sarah Squire, the brains behind Fundraising Expertise Ltd. Working with non-profit organisations large and small, I indulge my passion for charity fundraising and communications. I have a degree in modern languages. And it’s my love of language and communication – and my desire to make the world a better place –  that sparked my interest in all things fundraising.

For many years, I earned my stripes at the charity fundraising coalface, working for charities large and small. Trusts and Grants. Corporate. Major Donors. And fundraising and communications leadership roles. I’ve sat where you sit. So I understand the day-to-day challenges (and joys) of fundraising. 

In my early thirties I founded a fundraising agency. After over a decade at the helm of a very successful fundraising consultancy, I packed my corporate bags and set up my new company of one.

The Fundraising Expert exists to help charities fundraise effectively, efficiently and purposefully. Working with non-profits of all shapes and sizes, my company of one offers fundraising consultancy and services that deliver results.

Put simply, my mission is to help your charity fundraise brilliantly.


I bring decades of fundraising experience to the table. From major national and international charities to small, start-up non-profits, I have worked across all the income streams. This includes trusts, major donors, individual giving, and legacies.

From Fundraising Trustee, Head of Fundraising and Communications to Fundraising Volunteer, you name it, I’ve done it. My experience also includes 11 years as the Founder and Managing Director of fundraising agency, Fundraising Consultants Ltd. I recently sold the business and through my new company of one, I offer an unrivalled range and quality of fundraising services.

I have a Post-graduate Diploma in Fundraising from Southbank University, a Certificate in Philanthropic Fundraising Copywriting from the Institute for Sustainable Philanthropy and a Certificate in Fundraising from the Chartered Institute of Fundraising.

My story

I started in the voluntary sector in 1997 when I joined Tearfund as their first-ever Trust and Corporate Fundraiser. This was just a stop-gap for me until I found a ‘proper job.’ But once I’d got a foot into the charity sector, I was hooked. And fundraising was what I wanted to do.

Since then, I’ve worked in charities large and small, across all income streams. This includes individual giving, major donors, legacies, trusts, community fundraising and corporates. Before taking a career break to have children, I was Head of Fundraising and Communications for London-based charity Oasis UK.
